"From the cowardice that shrinks from new truth, from the laziness that is content with half truth, from the arrogance that thinks it has all the truth - Oh, God of truth, deliver us."
Nothing more astonishes me than to discover that all my friends in the church refuse to "stem the tide of lying tongues and to honor" Joseph Smith as an honest prophet. What else but fear of men controls them, as they timidly stand down and side with Brigham, as the LDS church continues to portray Joseph as a liar and hypocrite? What prevents you from testifying that Joseph was an honest man? What do you fear?
"I love Mormonism. It is Truth."
- Joe Alexander
"For behold, have I testified against [Mormonism]? Ye do not understand. Ye say that I have spoken against your law, but I have not; but I have spoken in favor of your law..."
Alma 10:26
"I know you're wrong."
"I already have the truth."
"You have nothing to offer me. I have enough."
"You're misled."
"You've gone astray."
"I'll stick with my Bible. I'll follow my prophet/pastor."
"So sorry you don't see that you're deceived. I'll pray for you."
(SMH- shake my head) "Thanks but no thanks."
Then, they always avoid looking at the new message.
Do what Jesus says, be humble and ask/seek/knock!
Do as Alma exhorts:
"If ye will awake and arouse your faculties, even to an experiment upon my words, and exercise a particle of faith, yea, even if ye can no more than desire to believe, let this desire work in you, even until ye believe in a manner that ye can give place for a portion of my words."
PLANT THE SEED!
"Do not cast it out by your unbelief!" (Alma 32:28)
Deciding on whether you accept polygamy determines whether you cut yourself off from His presence. "Inasmuch as ye will not keep my commandments ye shall be cut off from my presence." (2 Nephi 1:20)
Joseph's words speak from the dust -- he condemned and denounced polygamy at every opportunity. Hidden things are being brought to light, as prophesied (1 Cor 4:5). No unhallowed hand can stop the truth from rolling forth.
In CONCLUSION, the big takeaway from this chart above is that we, not the church hierarchy, stand with Joseph Smith. How about you? Remarkably, preaching Joseph's own words is not welcome in the church. Rather, evil speaking of the Lord's anointed (Joseph) has been institutionalized.
They think, "Why would I ever scrutinize a 'true' prophet?" But...could the president of the church be leading you astray, despite the false promise in OD1 that says he can't?
Adherents of all Christian faiths justify their belief that their church/leader/denomination is "true" by pointing to spiritual manifestations, all while ignoring the command to beware of (and therefore scrutinize) false prophets. Remember: a spiritual witness that the BoM is true means the BoM is true and JOSEPH (not subsequent men) was God's servant in translating it.
Might it be plausible that some leaders "set themselves up for a light unto the world, that they may get gain and praise of the world"?
“If we have the truth no harm can come from investigation. If we have not the truth, it ought to be harmed.”
DC 121:16-17
Brigham accused Joseph of lying to the people and secretly practicing a whoredom. Brigham did this when HE himself was the servant of these sins! Therefore God has cursed Brigham Young!
